Producer Information
Scheid Family Wines, a family-owned and operated wine company was founded in 1972 by Al Scheid who saw the untapped potential in Monterey County as a wine region. The company was originally started as a tax shelter, with the aim of growing grapes for other wineries but over the decades has gradually brought out partners to become one of the biggest wineries in the state and a full grape to glass business.
All the vineyards are sustainably certified and powered by 100% renewable wind energy, with the turbine also supplying energy to the local community.
Production Information
Grapes undergo a 7 day fermentation using pump over, followed by secondary malolactic fermentation. Twenty percent of the wine is then aged in new oak (American & Hungarian) before final blending and bottling.
