Paolo Scavino
One of Italy’s great Estates with holdings in Barolos finest Crus, Cannubi, Bric del Fiasc and Rocche dell’Annuziata. Along with Elio Altare, Enrico Scavino is surely responsible for the great reputation Piedmont has today. Since the 1980s he has been crafting benchmark modern Barolo. Through meticulous vineyard work, fermentations and finishing in a mixture of French oak barriques and the larger traditional ‘Botti’ casks, Enrico makes svelte wines whose polish and sophistication enhance rather than shroud their character and typicity.
Reviews - This review is from Kerin O'Keefe formally of Wine Enthusiast: “Absolutely gorgeous, the 2019 Barolo from Paolo Scavino stuns with its fragrance of perfumed berry, dark spice, Alpine herb and dog rose. One of best entry level Barolos from the vintage, it’s focused, vibrant and savory, delivering crushed mint, star anise, cranberry, red cherry and blood orange. Elegant and taut, it boasts polished tannins while bright acidity imparts vibrancy and tension.”
Decanter Magazine Barolo 2019 - “Aldo Fiordelli hails 2019 as a ‘classic‘ vintage in Barolo, rating it five out of five stars.”
Decanter Magazine Producer Profile - “Freshness, texture, and finesse remain the hallmarks of the Scavino style, and quality is now effortlessly high.”
