The first appearance of Echezeaux dates back to the end of the 13th century when the monks of the Citeaux abbey acquired a few plots, attracted by the quality of the terroir.
And indeed, this steep and shallow soil of the Côte de Nuits is perfectly suited to the Pinot Noir from which this Echezeaux Grand Cru comes. A dense and well-balanced wine, it offers very good aging potential for around ten years.
Beautiful dark ruby red with a complex and pleasant nose, silky tannins and a rounded finish.
The Domaine was created in the 16th century. It is located in Bouzeron, and today covers the 3 main regions of Burgundy: the Côte de Beaune, the Côte de Nuits and the Côte Chalonnaise.
Since September 2013, the estate has been run by Jean-Baptiste Jessiaume, who comes from several generations of Santenay winegrowers. He won the Trophée des Jeunes Talents Côte d'Or in 2012.
The vines are run by Pascal Jessiaume, his uncle. The latter scrupulously respects the environment, as well as the parcels of land. He relies on the identity of the terroir of each parcel.
