Producer Information
Founded in 1942 and in family hands for over 70 years.
It was Douglas Green’s ground-breaking realisation that the grapes from the Western Cape’s varied vineyards should be combined to express the best qualities and characteristics of each region that led to the development of his eponymous range of sought-after wines.
Douglas' pioneering spirit lies at the heart of the current team's winemaking philosophy, encouraging them to push boundaries and question the status quo.
Douglas Green Jr is still involved with the company ensuring that his father’s legacy lives on.
Production Information
The wines are now made in the Douglas Green Cellar in Wellington from grapes sourced from partner growers, the vineyards overseen by the Douglas Green’s specialist viticulturists.
After fermentation on the skins and pressing, the young wine undergoes complete malolactic fermentation on oak staves and is then left for a further 3 months of wood maturation.
