Viura, aka Macabeo/Macabeu, is found mainly in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France and throughout Spain. It’s often used in Catalunya to produce Cava, or blended in Rioja.
The grapes from our vineyards located in San Asensio, Briones and Zarratón (Rioja Alta), arrive at the winery where they are gently pressed. After maceration and gentle cold clarification, the clean must is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
This dry, un-oaked, single-variety version is a unique treat.
Golden-coloured in the glass, this wine shows fantastically crisp flavors yet is surprisingly rich for such a light-bodied grape, with an almost-savory, long finish. So easy drinking and refreshing!
Serving Suggestion: Seared bacon-wrapped scallops over orzo w/ roasted garlic bits throughout. Creamy pasta w/ artichokes & lemon.
