GROWER PROFILE & SHORT HISTORY
The Niklas winery in Kaltern/Caldaro on the South Tyrolean Wine Road boasts a 900-year-old
tradition. It has been owned by the family of Josef and Dieter Sölva since 1969. The family are
passionate winemakers and know well that while the area, soil and local climate provide
natural conditions for optimal grapes, only the unique style and love of the cellarer for his
product really bring wine to life. The newly-installed wooden barrel cellar shows that tradition
and progress are compatible with a small family-run business. On a growing area of
approximately 6 hectares, grapes are harvested for making first-class red and white wines.
The winery produces about 50,000 bottles each year, including Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon, Kerner,
Weiss Riserva "Mondevinum", Pinot Blanc, Riserva "Klaser", Kalterer See Auslese, Lagrein,
Lagrein Cabernet Riserva "Klaser" and Lagrein Riserva.
