The classic gift, wine!

The classic gift to enjoy with Sunday roast or overseeing the barbecue. Ranging
from indulgent reds to something chill able and even some fun whites and bubbles
from a new addition in the Suffolk countryside.

Castello di Meleto’s Chianti Classico DOCG comes from an 800-year-old estate in
Gaiole and is now at the forefront of the rebirth of Chianti. Sangiovese done right this
is bright red cherry, wild strawberry and hints of dried herbs and delicious chalky
tannins - perfect with grilled meats and tomato-based sauces, yet it’s also perfectly
at home being sipped next to the firepit. Meleto Chianti Classico DOCG £21.99

For those that like a bit more oomph we present a Bobal from Altolandon, who are
based in DO Manchuela, Spain, where winemaker Rosalia operates from one of the
regions highest altitude wineries – the height encouraging ripening and preserving
acidity in her wines. This organic Bobal delivers ripe cherries, blackberries and
blackcurrant with a whisper of rosemary and black pepper – spicy, juicy and well-
rounded with delicious crunchy fruit. Mil Historias Bobal £17.50

Chilled red? Every hipster dad’s dream – light the fire pit, put on your Birks and
gently chill this cinsault from Languedoc, France. Light, juicy and gluggalicious with
bright red fruits and just a touch of peppery grip. L’envolee Sauvage £12.99

Whites can’t be overlooked though and we’ve just taken on a great new producer
from the Suffolk countryside. Burnt House is a family-run vineyard passionate about
producing exceptional wines reflecting their East Anglian terroir, whilst developing
the farm that has been in family hands since 1925.
Their Bacchus is bursting with aromas of green apple and elderflower with crisp
citrus notes on the palate making it the perfect pairing for grilled fish and a fresh
salad.

The Burnt House Brut continues these citrus notes with this golden fizz also giving
up flavours of peach, pear, honey and toast – your new summer sipper. Burnt
House Bacchus £21 | Burnt House Brut £35

Spirits

The more traditional gift, and whilst we don’t list loads on our website do
always get in touch if you’re after a specific bottle and we’ll do our best to source it
for you from our range of suppliers.

Whisky - Ron Swanson’s favourite. However, we’ve gone away from Scotch and
picked something local - the new, limited-edition release from The English Distillery.
Their Gently Smoked Sherry Hogshead is the second in their small batch range, aromas of burnt sugar, rich toffee and a hint of smoke, whilst the palate evolves with
smooth smoke, apple, vanilla and orange peel. Gently Smoked Sherry Hogshead
£65

Rum - for those with perhaps a slightly sweeter tooth, looking for rich flavours of
molasses and hints of chocolate, Norfolk Rum hit all the notes with their Dark
Spiced. At only £40 the rum is deliciously warming with notes of chocolate,
cinnamon and vanilla alongside hints of candied orange with just enough spice to
keep you on your toes. Norfolk Dark Spiced Rum £40

Tequila

The cool kid on the block and one of the fastest growing spirits categories in
the country. Either mixed in to a more indulgent margarita, or simply sipper Rooster
Rojo Anejo bridges the gap perfectly between straight agave-enthusiasts and
whisky lovers. Vanilla and coffee flavours to taste followed by waves of brown sugar,
apricot and honey. Just a hint of the oak ageing binds all these together in a fantastic
bottle. Rooster Rojo Anejo £37.50

Whatever their tastes, a carefully selected bottle is not just a gift for Father’s Day -
it’s an invitation to slow down, share stories and raise a glass together, hopefully our
suggests help provide some guidance.
